About us

A 2022 report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows that women make up only 22% of the Nigerian tech workforce, reflecting a significant gender gap. This disparity is also evident in education, where only 30% of tertiary students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields are women, according to UNESCO.

Several factors contribute to this gap, including socio-cultural norms and expectations that discourage girls from pursuing STEM careers. Research from the International Journal of Gender, Science, and Technology highlights societal biases and stereotypes that deter young girls from tech fields. Bridging this gender gap in tech sector will require dedicated efforts from both genders within the community to create a more inclusive environment.

This is the inspiration behind Girls into Tech. Girls into Tech is dedicated to inspiring young minds while bridging the gender gap in the technological space. We aim to achieve this by educating the next generation of women in technology through trainings, mentotship, interships and networking.

Girls into Tech offers free in-person and online bootcamp designed to actively contribute to narrowing the gender gap in the tech industry.
